For Banfi, the “Pettegola” is the funny and ironic Italian name for a bird native to the Tuscan coast, the redshank, which I have imagined as cunning and full of song. This is why I chose to depict a young, colourful yet pensive woman completely absorbed by the cheerful and festive song of the redshank. The bright colours and clean lines, typical elements of my art, exalt the joyful and convivial atmosphere that characterises a toast, rendered even more carefree by the song of the lively bird. The song of the redshank thus becomes the perfect backdrop to an enjoyable evening in company while savouring a glass of the wine that shares its name.

The 2021 edition launch was divided into 3 moments that took place over the course of the year; a live digital presentation via the Zoom platform, a dedicated event in May, and participation in the Fuori Salone programme for the International Furniture Fair in Milan in September.

Elena Salmistraro
Designer - Artist
A designer and artist, she lives and works in Milan. She graduated from the Politecnico di Milano, and in 2009 she founded her own firm, collaborating as a designer and illustrator with a wide range of creative companies. Attention to detail, harmonious forms and poetic style characterise her creations, a blend of art and design; a focus on the expressive nature of objects, which has the potential to fascinate, stirring emotions, is an important aspect of her work. Her designs have been selected for a number of international exhibitions. In 2017 she won the “Salone del Mobile Milano Award” for “Best emerging designer” and was nominated a world ambassador for Italian design by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2018 she was nominated an ambassador of the Brera Design District.
