“I designed the Queen of Pettegola, accompanied by her loyal bird, whispering secrets into her ear. The queen's iconography is inspired by a historical figure, Queen Isabella of Aragon, also known as Saint Elizabeth of Portugal, the patron saint of winemakers for her commitment to wine production. I added a halo behind her profile, which can also be interpreted as a full moon in a starry sky. Our queen reigns over the Tuscan coast, surrounded by fields of sunflowers, flowers that have always symbolized the joy of life and happiness.”

When Banfi invited Elisa Seitzinger to create the label for the 2025 Limited Edition of La Pettegola, the artist embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. Her creative process always begins by hand, before transitioning to digital, where colors become vibrant and bold. For this illustration, Elisa drew inspiration from Isabella of Aragon, the patron saint of winemakers, transforming her into the Queen of Pettegola, surrounded by sunflowers—symbols of joy and vitality—and accompanied by her loyal bird. Elisa’s art is a bridge between past and present: references to medieval art, Byzantine mosaics, and timeless elegance blend together to create a unique masterpiece infused with joy, elegance, and tradition.

Elisa Seitzinger
Illustrator
Elisa Seitzinger is an Italian illustrator and visual artist, renowned for her distinctive style that blends medieval iconography with contemporary influences. Born at the foot of Sacro Monte Calvario, she pursued art studies in cities such as Florence, Atlanta, Nice, and London, eventually settling in Turin, where she currently lives and works.
Throughout her career, Elisa has collaborated with prominent publications and cultural institutions, including La Repubblica and L’Espresso. Her works have been featured in various exhibitions, such as Minor Arcana in Milan, where she explored themes related to social classes and the evolution of society through evocative symbols and imagery.
Recently, she illustrated the Symbolic Soul Tarot and the Herbarium Oracle, published by Llewellyn Worldwide, showcasing her ability to combine tradition and innovation in internationally acclaimed editorial projects.
